A film director has claimed Capcom used one of his creature designs for a demon in Resident Evil Village.

Lowly SPOILERS FOR RESIDENT Diabolic VILLAGE CREATURE DESIGNS In front

Richard Raaphorst, who directed the 2013 establish-footage horror jerk Frankenstein's Army, shared some compare images on his LinkedIn varlet between the monstrosity from his movie and the one from Village. The creature, which looks a bit like a Double Daddy with a desk sports fan glued to his face, is seen standing in a similarly derelict construction in the premier image. The second base image shows both the movie and game version of the creature flaming.

"In 2013 I oriented my film Frankenstein's Army," Raaphorst wrote in the accompanying spot. "It's a impractical monster movie filled with my own creature designs, unrivaled of which has been used—completely without authorization or credit in the newest Resident Evil game."

Twitter user CloneKorp also tweeted a thread of even more monster comparisons from Frankenstein's monster's Army and Resident Evil Small town with strong likenesses. Raaphorst replied to the thread saying "Oh dude, this is worsened than I thought. First I felt raging, and then boastful, but now I see this, I smel tragicomical."

Raaphorst told me that he wants to lay down it clear that he doesn't do it if Capcom did IT on purpose, "but the material is overmuch of a happenstance." He also said that if Capcom "would have informed [ME] beforehand, I would have been super flattered."

Raaphorst as wel told Maine atomic number 2 doesn't intend to take any sort of action at law against Capcom, saying "I fitting wish they gave me course credit."

While IT's not uncommon for horror media to draw inspiration from otherwise sources within the musical genre, the similarities between propeller-direct particularly are rather striking. Whether it's uncredited brainchild OR a amazing coincidence remains to be seen. If there's unrivaled thing I do know, it's that horror games and films love sticking out kookie inanimate objects on top of hominid bodies.

I've also contacted Capcom for a comment regarding the claims and will update if they win back to Maine.

A fresh writer in the industry, Mollie has been taken low-level PC Gamer's RGB-laden wing, making sure she doesn't get up to too much mischief on the locate. She's not quite a sure what a Command & Conquer is, but she give the sack rattle on for hours about all the unclear rhythm games and strange MMOs from the 2000s. She's been cooking up entirely manner of news, previews and features while she's been here, but especially enjoys when she gets to write of Closing Fantasy, Persona, The Sims, and some other game she's currently hopelessly fixated on. There's a good chance she's boring another PC Gamer writer about her latest compulsion as we speak up.
